These documents are Bhagat Singh's prison diary, summaries and quotations of the books he read. The knowledge of their existence came from Indian newspapers and magazines. In 1968 Indian historian G. Deval wrote the article 'Shaheed Bhagatsingh' for People's Path magazine, in which he referred to a 200-page copy and said that it contained Bhagatsingh's notes on many subjects, showing the breadth of his interests. The copy contains notes on capitalism, socialism, origins of the state, communism, religion, sociology, India, the French Revolution, Marxism, the family as a form of government, and internationalism.
