The goal of the current series is to provide a representative sample of how sensitive thinkers from various languages have viewed Gandhi. It also aims to create through collage a perspective on how Mahatma Gandhi was received by the Indian literary community over the last 100 years, from the time he came to the attention of the Indian public in the second decade of the 20th century to the year 2019, which marked the 150th anniversary of his birth. By weaving together a communal view on the Mahatma's life and work via the prism of creative writing in Indian languages, we hope to pay tribute to him on this historic day. The collection aims to compile Gandhi-related writing in as many Indian languages as it can. This book is a celebration of Gandhi and Tamil Nadu's cooperative partnership. Shyam Pakhare and G.N. Devy are the authors. Former English professor at the M.S. University of Baroda, G.N. Devy has written books in the fields of literary criticism, anthropology, linguistics, philosophy, and education. He writes in three languages: Gujarati, Marathi, and English. He established the Adivasi academy at Tejgadh, Gujarat, and the Bhasha Research Centre in Baroda. In addition to numerous national and international honours for his work with marginalised people, he was given the Padmashri honour in 2014. Assistant Professor Shyam Pakhare teaches history at Kishinchand Chellaram College in Churchgate, Mumbai. His primary area of interest in research is Gandhian Studies.
