Helen Keeler was born on June 27, 1880 in America. She was a writer, political activist and lecturer. She was the first deaf and blind woman to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her teacher Annie Sullivan taught her to communicate using signs. Keeler traveled a lot and raised her voice against war. She wrote many books; did commendable work for the upliftment of women, workers' rights and socialism. She died on June 1, 1968.
